Funding the Purchase of SPORTident Equipment
Funding For Sports Clubs
Cash 4 Clubs www.Cash-4-Clubs.com
This is a corporate-initiated sports club funding scheme. The scheme is funded by Betfair, in partnership with SportsAid. The scheme is part of their community investment programme in local grassroots sport, whilst also building upon their successful ‘Charity of the Year’ partnership with SportsAid.offers all sports clubs in the UK the chance to win grants ranging from £250 to £1000. It is a simple scheme aimed at giving community clubs a helping hand and provide the opportunity to raise the money they need to invest in their club. The scheme is available to all community sports clubs based in the UK and registered with their sports’ National Governing Body or local authority. Funding can be requested for anything that will add to the sustainability and effectiveness of the sports club. Clubs apply for a grant using the online application form available at www.cash-4-clubs.com. These will be assessed by an independent panel of judges, with grants awarded on a quarterly basis.
School Funds
Departmental Budget.
It would be hoped that in the first instance PE specialists would purchase equipment through the normal
departmental budget. The equipment is relevant to the curriculum, beneficial to health and fitness, and
encourages the use of ICT. In particular it has great benefit for GCSE and 'A' Level PE where the students can
develop their ideas using ICT tools to amend and refine their work and enhance its quality and accuracy. The
electronic data collected can be shared and exchanged over the school LAN or the World Wide Web.
Study Support.
Both primary and secondary schools have an allocation for Study Support. The amount of cash available can vary
from £200 for a small primary to over £10k for a large secondary comprehensive. Often this budget heading is
under spent (£1 million in some authorities last year!). It is worth approaching the Head or senior management
team to see if money can be made available from here.
KS3 Transition.
Only applicable to secondary schools. Typically £10k per school. The equipment could be used by a secondary
school to set up 'out of hours' activities for years 5,6 & 7 pupils. This would greatly assist the transition by
getting the younger pupils to visit the school, use the facilities, and meet current pupils and staff. All this
could be achieved in a friendly, positive and healthy manner.
Other Funds - Funding Ladder
- Contact the local Parish Council. They sometimes hold pots of money, which they may be prepared to use to fund sports specific activities.
- Next contact the District Council. They also have pots of money, which they may be persuaded to use in their district in respect of sporting initiatives. Each district should have a designated Sports Development Officer. These are the people to identify in your area. They will be happy to discuss new opportunities and will be able to give detailed local advice about potential funding avenues for sport related schemes.
- Neighbourhood Forums. These are part of the County Council. They have funds that are distributed at a local level. Councils will have Neighbourhood Development Officers who will be pleased to discuss projects and give application details.
- The County Council may be able to assist through a special reserve fund of the School Sports Association. Assistance is sometimes given to local teams who have progressed to the latter stages of a national competition.
