SI-Cards
SI-Cards are small plastic pegs (70*18*3 mm3) which have a electronic chip in one end. The SI-Card is dipped into the hole in a control station in order for a competitor to register that they have visited a location or competed a task. The control station gives an audible bleep and a visual flash to confirm that the process, which takes a fraction of a second, to complete.
Both the time and control station number are stored on the SI-Card. Additionally the time and the SI-Card number are stored in the control station.
Depending on the event the SI-Card can be attached to the competitor in a number of different ways. For shorter duration events, less than two hours, or when the time between controls is short a finger strap is normally used. For longer events, including multi-day competitions the SI-Card is normally attached to a wrist strap.
Currently there are two version of SI-Cards available:
- SI-Card 6 - Holds data from 68 punches (64 punches with time and control number, start time, clear time, check time and finish time), high punching speed, twice as fast as a SI-Card 5. Personal data can be stored on the card. More details >>>
- SI-Card 5 - Holds data from 39 punches (30 punches with time and control number, 6 controls without time, start time, check time and finish time). Fast punching speed (0.3 seconds) More details >>>
SI-Cards can be purchased online.
