More Orienteering. More controls. More excitement!
World Orienteering Week (WOW) gets people moving across the globe – aiming to raise awareness of orienteering and reach new audiences. At SPORTident, we want to support exactly that – with a special offer for all those who make training and events possible – perfect for schools, clubs, or event organisers.
When you purchase 10 BSF9 stations, we’ll give you a Mini Reader worth £90 (net) for free – as part of our WOW campaign! This offer is valid until 17 June 2025.
Get involved, inspire others, and help create unforgettable orienteering moments!
Please contact us to take advantage of this offer.
It’s clear: Before every race, you must punch the CLEAR Station with your SIAC – this deletes all previous data from the card.
But what does it actually mean to "activate" your SIAC? When activated, your SIAC switches from passive to active mode – the so-called AIR+ Mode – allowing you to punch checkpoints contactlessly.
Here’s how it works:
Remember: CLEAR – CHECK – SIAC Test. And you're set for your next race!
You might be thinking: “I’ve always set them up this way!” – but did you know that there is a recommended minimum distance between two stations working in AIR+ mode?
The reason is quite simple: Every SPORTident Station transmits information within a specific radius in contactless punching mode. For BSF7, BSF8, and BSF9 Stations, this radius is about 40 cm.
To prevent signal overlap and ensure accurate data recording, the general rule is: If two stations are placed side by side at a checkpoint, they should be at least 1 metre apart.
With this small adjustment, you can ensure a smooth and reliable timing experience – for yourself and all participants!
After more than 27 years of reliable service, we are announcing the end of life for the SI-Card5 and SI-Card6. These cards, introduced in 1997 and 2002 respectively, have stood the test of time – but as technology evolves, it’s time to move forward. Future SPORTident products and product updates will no longer support the SI-Card5 and SI-Card6.
What does this mean for you?
All SI-Card5 and SI-Card6 will continue to work with the existing stations and other SPORTident hardware as they are today. However, future SPORTident products and product updates (including firmware) will no longer support these cards.
There are no planned firmware updates for the BSF7, BSF8 or BSF9 stations that are currently in use in the near future. However we recommend that you consider upgrading to the SPORTident Active Card (SIAC), SI-Card9 or SI-Card8 to benefit from future features and innovations.
